Why Volunteer
Roughly 4.4 million Australians make a difference in their local community by volunteering each year. Without volunteer involvement at all levels of the game, from people supporting first time juniors to the veterans of the game, many communities, clubs and teams would cease to exist.
There are so many ways that you can be involved in cricket - through coaching, umpiring, scoring, administering the game and more.

EDCC Volunteer Management Plan Framework
| 1 | Recruitment | Recruiting the right people into the right roles at our Club is vital. This can include identifying tasks and roles, the time and number of volunteers required, who does the task and role now, and when will it finish. |

| 2 | Place | The process of promoting the tasks to be completed, attracting volunteers to do the tasks, screening a volunteer’s suitability to perform the task, selecting and appointing volunteers to roles. |

| 4 | Train | Educating volunteers on specific information for the role, and additional learning and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills. |
| 5 | Supervise | The process of monitoring and providing feedback to the volunteer on performance in achieving the tasks. |

EDCC is committed to safeguarding children and young people at our Club and adheres to Cricket Australia’s Policy to ensure that we create a safe, fair and inclusive environment for all children and young people.

Working with Children Check
Further, EDCC adheres to the minimum standard for Clubs and Associations to ensure Cricket is doing everything possible to prevent child related offences.
Under the Act, a person involved in cricket is considered to be engaging in child related work and must apply for a Check if they:
- Work or volunteer in a role that brings them into contact with children under 18; and
- Volunteer or do this work on a regular basis; and
- Do not qualify for one of the exemptions in the legislation.
In accordance with Cricket Victoria guidelines, the following exemptions from the legislation apply and EDCC recognises that when volunteering at the Club the following individuals are not required to apply for a Check (subject to appropriate proof being sighted):
- Persons aged under 18.
- Sworn Members of Victoria Police.
- Teachers registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (still required to sight the VIT registration and confirm online at www.vit.vic.edu.au)
